i liked having them tell me when i could push but when i told them i needed to keep pushing they went with it.. i would have been upset if they got mad about that... your body knows when it needs to push.. i didn't really have control over it a few times my body just kept pushing after they had told me to stop. i was like.. i still need to push and the nurse and my friend i had with me grabbed my legs and were like ok go.

Nah girl when u feel the need to do it just push. It helps a lot !

@mrsmord, they usually try to count to 10, I'd get so frustrated

I pushed when I wanted to, every time my doctor told me to push I didn't feel the need to and it pissed me off, when she told me to stop pushing I couldn't help my self I knew I needed to keep pushing so I did and my daughter wiggled out and my Dr. Was mad that I kept pushing when she told me not to but I didn't care I got the job done lol

I was told to push when I felt a contraction, but honestly I liked being told when to push. It made me feel "safer" if that makes sense. I could've had my baby in less time, but I only pushed every other contraction because I was hesitant.

It's much better to push when you feel you have to. My doctor just told me to keep pushing whenever I felt the need and it felt amazing I couldn't wait for them to count it was too intense .

I chose when I was ready to push. When I said I was ready, I had my OB and nurses tell me when to push and it was really easy.

it's easier and more effective to push when you feel the need! I did just that with my third born and she was out in one push
