experienced mommies! or 37 week+ pregnant women ONLY!
can someone explain to me effacement with no dialation? everything I try to read just confused me. like 2 weeks ago(last appt o had since my ob's office screwed me out of an appointment last week) I was 60 percent effaced, but not dilated. I understand that means I am 60 percent thinned, and I am not dilated. can you un-efface? I know you can un-dialate. is effacement before dialation a good thing? does it mean when I start the progress of dialaiting, that if I'm thinned more it'll help me dilate sooner?
I would ask these questions to my ob but it's gonna be a few days before him and I'm experiencing a lot of jolts in my butt. and I've noticed the BHC is starting slightly to the point where I notice it's happening but doesn't phase me.

That's a hard one. I didn't even dilate until I was induced and 39wks 1 day but I was 90% thinned. I didn't dilate past 2cm till they gave me an epidural then I dilated almost instantly to 8 cm then full dilation soon after. Every pregnancy is different.

@xbbycolletto, when I was in the hospital (admitted because of high blood pressure 6 days after my due date) they gave me medicine to thin my cervix and then they put Balloons in me to help me dilate. But I know that it can happen naturally simultaneously but If I'm not mistaken the thinner you are the more you dilate.

Usually if you efface prior to dilation and the baby is in position it will cause you to dialate because your cervix is softened and the pressure of your baby will help with your dialation. I really don't believe you can un-efface. If you are fully effaced but not dialated once you see your doctor again they might take to you about being induced to help you body since it is not dialating on its own.
