my first was colicky and I bottle fed him. I propped him while he slept and swaddled him tight and did a whole lot of walking and bouncing. some nights I'd have to lay him swaddled and go away to catch control of my emotions

I breastfeed and my daughter was colicky from about 2-10 weeks. she'd cry every night around 8pm for anywhere between 45min, to the worst was 5 hours.... I used gripe water ofter, and swaddled her really tight in a stretchy blanket, and walked around with her. I saw no difference when I cut out foods or ate different things. just had to muddle through

now she's so much easier! I used to cry so much because of the colic

yeah, the longer events made me want to rip my hair out. my only consolation was knowing that it wouldn't last forever. I just had to wait for her to grow out of it. 6-8 weeks is the peak (craziest part). Belle cried for 5 hours at 7 weeks and slowly tapered off from there... I'm debating on not having any more babies because of what colic was like, but maybe I'll forget about it in 5 years, idk lol 😂😂

lol my son was a breeze compared to my daughter. so not all babies are colicky. @kattastrophe

I guess that's true, but my mom said I was a colic baby too. it would be just my luck that it's genetic or something.... I just remember trying everything with no luck. I'm a very patient person, but that screaming gets nerve racking after a while!

3 months isn't really long in the grand scheme of things, but it feels long at the time lol

lol right. my mom said none of her kids were colic. and she had 5 kids so I don't think its genetic. lol @kattastrophe

I had another theory too, I was stressed out really bad my whole pregnancy, and my mom was stressed out when she was pregnant with me (calm with my two brothers and they were easy babies). did you have a lot going on, or were you more mellow?.... you'll get through it, I did and my daughter is soooo much fun now at 5 months

I had sooo much going on. stressed every day and night. that's a good theory @kattastrophe

@jasminemaye, wow! maybe emotions during pregnancy do have an impact on the baby.... I guess I'll never know for sure unless I have another someday 😜 lol. that would be crazy if that was a part of the big mystery behind colic.

did your daughter ever wake up dead of sleep and just start crying bloody murder? @kattastrophe

kattastrophe

Bonnie

Мама дочки-младенца

yes! or take a 2 minute break in the middle of screaming to doze off, just to wake back up to resume lol.... it was insane

jasminemaye

Jasmine

Мама двоих (младенец)

yes she does that too! she'll take like a 10 minute "nap" and start screaming again. I'm like wth?? lol @kattastrophe so I am assuming she's colicky then?

they say 6-8 weeks will be the worst that it'll get, and then be better from there. it worked that way in my case, but I suppose every baby is different(: from what ive read online, colic hardly ever goes past 3 months
