Only 4 days breastfeeding and my nipples are seriously hurt 💔 it looks like if they were cooked or something 😒. Doctors let me borrow a pump for 30 days but said try not to use it if I don't think it's necessary. but ohhhh man it hurts

It's completely normal to hurt/ be sore the first days even weeks. I say you make an appointment with a lactation consultant maybe your baby is not latching properly.

Coconut oil! ❤️ it will get better I promise. I agree with @mommabeardurso, check with a lactation nurse just to make sure baby's latch is good and to check for tongue and lip ties. I would avoid a nipple shield if baby isn't having any issues latching. It can be a great short term tool for babies with issues latching on--but it can affect your supply and baby will learn to favor it over your natural breast if you use it all the time or long term.

It hurt me so bad at first too. To the point where I had to look away and bite a blanket. Stay strong! Also why did they say not to use a pump? Pumping after breastfeeding brings in more milk! Good luck to ya!

yeah I'm going to have to buy some , they gave me a little tube at the doctors. Seems good. @amaresmama

@mommabeardurso, yeah the appointment I had was with a lactation consultant she was checking to see how much milk baby takes in. She said it seems like baby is doing fine.

@nicoli_e1, that's how I am right now. I close my eyes so hard when she latches on
well she gave it to me in order to let my nipples heal but then she said if it doesn't hurt that bad to try and continue feeding without pumping to not interfere with the great bond or something like that. But I thinking to give the pumping a try. Thanks!

@lizbeth9000, you should try the pump. It will also hurt with the pump though :( it hurt me. Lol. But your boobs will get use to it. Remember this is all too knew to them. It'll take awhile to adjust. After a while they will get numb. Lmao. But also when you are nursing I've learned a few tricks to wear you ca get them to open their mouths so wide to have a better latch and so it won't hurt as bad. Rub your nipple on their bottle lips for awhile till they open wide then stick that sucker in there.
