I don't understand why women call the doctors before going to L&D..... None of my doctors have ever told me to call before going in or to see if I should, I always just went in. But why call first?

@alyen2, So true I have been sent home on many occasions luckily my hospital it just 3 minutes from my home. I remember being monitored for contractions one time and the nurse told me a story that some women go in there with 8 to 10 even 15 people sometimes thinking that it's baby time and then it's not and they sent home some of them come from far distances. Lol I couldn't imagine that happening. Haha

I was always instructed BY THEM to call first. It's a long drive and parking costs money. And it's common for them to send you home if it's not legit. They try to help you over the phone first. Every office is different. That's why.

@kelseys, Yeah anytime they told me to wait and I didn't feel comfortable doing so I went in anyway, but yeah at my hospital if the dr calls and they are expecting you then l&d have a room ready for you, but if you go on your own l&d sends you to the ER for the whole registration process and you go through the whole triage thing which as you know can take forever 🙄

@noemysmom, I see.... for both of my pregnancies, I had a different doctor than the one I was seeing deliver my boys. the first one was because she wasn't on call that night and then I don't know why my doctor didn't come the second time, I guess because I didn't call...

well thats just what I assume because when I lost my first baby I called and they told me my doc was there at the hospital so I could go in and see her and not some stranger.

I felt more comfortable and it made my pre term delivery just a little easier

@tuckermommy, you had to wait for a room?! I never had to wait. but I guess it makes sense to call in first. I just wasn't to sure because I always hear that some women call and the doctors tell them not to come in or to wait till something else happens.

Well I've done it both ways. I've called before going in once and just went in once without calling, and the time I called the dr first, they called the hospital and they were expecting me and had a room ready. Whenever I went in without calling I had to wait awhile for a room to be available.

I think to see if your doc is on call and can see you when you come in or if something more serious is going so they can be there to assist you

Hey I’m 26 with two children #myfirstpost Okay I’ll be real and explained why I joined, I didn’t know I could be looked up or anyone would actually see this post, I was informed someone I know has been stealing pics and I came to look and see what’s going on if any of mine were on there or anyone else I knew. I just typed until it let me post since it was required before I could look around on the app.

I know I've posted this before but when your water was leaking did it stay leaking or just with movements or what? Did you get contractions shortly after or no? I rolled out of bed and felt warmth leak out but Idk if it was possibly urine or what...never had it happen. It didn't smell like anything really...I know I should either call l&d or go in but I just want some experiences please. I want to wait a bit just in case it's nothing.
