how to know if your having real contractions I'm having so much pain the pain will come very intense for a 2mins go away for about 15 mins and come back should I go to the er

Husband on the way home. I have to go to l&d the pain is severe and my contractions are every 5-7mins. Nurses wanted me to come in. Will keep everyone updated. !

My hospital said to come when you have consistent contractions for an hour that come every 5 minutes.
