Really struggling trying to decide which type of IUD to get . I'm on the depo for 3 months now , and my current period has lasted for a whole month . I can't take it I'm definitely switching bc just in case this might happen again , A STRAIGHT MONTH ON MY PERIOD -____- So anyway , the copper is the one I'm leaning towards , since the other one has "irregular periods" as a possible side effect , and that's the reason why I want to switch off of the depo in the first place . So if anyone has any experience on an IUD , which one would you prefer , and what side effects did you have to deal with ? My next bc appointment is the 16th so I have to decide asap

but my OB said that like once a month when you should be getting your period, you might experience a little cramping or breakouts which I think is no big deal

the mirena lasts up to 5 years but you can get it taken out whenever you want. Also you eventually just don't get your period at all (My favorite part lol)

@reaganmommy2015, I wasn't on my period. They put it in 6 week PP. and @angelinasmommy1016 besides the light bleeding afterwards, no side effects!

I also had the mirena IUD and it was very uncomfortable when they put it in a lot of pressure but they had to do it twice cause the first one didn't take. Plus you have to be on your period when they put it in. As well as your good to have sex that day which worked for me

the insert it in you at the OB/GYN. Not going to lie, it was uncomfortable when they inserted it and I bled for 3 days afterwards (light bleeding though, was no big deal) and I haven't had a problem since!

Any opinions on the birth control implant that goes in your arm , supposed to last for 3 years ? I'm gonna get it but the lady at planned parenthood told me I have to try out the depo shot for 6 months first to see if I'm okay with the side effects , since the side effects are relatively the same , and they don't want to do surgery to take it out if I don't like it . So I'm stuck with the depo for now lol
