All I can from experience with my son who is about to be 10. Don't make it like he's missing something without having around. Don't bash the father. Depending on why he's not there or involved be honest with your son but don't burden him with details of your hurt. If the bio is a POS little man will figure that out on his own. You don't ever want him to resent you for any of it. My son is aware that he has a bio father out there but he doesn't know him. He knows he's not a good guy and that he hurt me. (that part due to my mother telling him.) It's very hard but if you ever need to talk I'm here.
