What are yalls thoughts on circumcision? My husband and I argue about this a lot.
I completely understand your concern and I see nothing wrong with waiting to make sure it's done correctly.
@boenischpartyof5 I already know how to take care of both. my main concern is how messed up the dr did on my nephews and now he has to have it redone at a children's hospital because the dr cut the wrong spot. It has been extremely painful for him in the 5 months since his birth.
@lauren125 I'm just scared because of what happened to my nephew a few months ago with his. that's my main concern.
If I have a boy I will get him circumcised. But this time I'm having a girl. My sister had a boy in December and she got him circumcised. It's not a religious thing for me I just think it's better for him later in life.
thank yall for all of the replies! I'm really going to do more research before my son is born.
What was said above, about America being the only country that does it is 100% wrong. MANY countries circumcise babies. As far as the pain that the baby goes through, yes there is pain but babies don't remember it and it takes maybe 10 minutes to do it. There's many things to consider if pain is a main concern; such as a lip and/or tongue tie that if your baby has and you chose to get it fixed, they will not use any numbing for it either, just like there isn't for shots nor blood work. When my boyfriends brother was born, he was delivered at a catholic hospital where they did not circumcise. His mom waited until he was 8 years old to get him circumcised and at 23 still says it was very painful even with main medication and numbing. With that being said, I would rather do it when my son is a baby rather than an age where he can remember it 10 years down the road. It's 100% your call though and it definitely is a cosmetic thing, but as well as a hygienic as well. If you choose not to, make sure you have the nurses show you how to clean it
I have three boys and my oldest son is circumcised. I had him when I was a teen and my parents pressured me to do it. My youngest son and this baby won't be. I've taught my youngest proper hygiene and he has never had a problem. I don't see a point in it really.
If we have a boy we aren't going to get him circumcised. My husband isn't circumcised and it's never bothered him. I just can't bring myself to welcome my baby with something so painful. I've seen it done and it's not pretty, plus there are things that could go wrong.
it's funny that everyone says it's cleaner, because it's not dirty in any way. there are glands under the foreskin that keep it balanced, hence one of the many reasons why you never retract an infant or toddler's foreskin. it's up to you entirely, i'd say research facts before listening to opinions because you will mostly hear uneducated people talking down on choosing not to circumcise.
Me and my boyfriend will be getting our son circumcised if we have a boy. We didn't even have to discuss it we both feel the same about it
My son and SO isn't and my next won't be neither . . Totally unnecessary pain .
My boys are both circumcised, and so will my new baby. I've went back and forth with a few different doctors, and I decided it would be easier for them to keep clean.
I want to wait to have him done at the children's hospital rather than our small town hospital that messed up my nephew's but my husband wants it done immediately.
it's purely cosmetic. America is one of the only countries who does it. it's easy to clean and it's not difficult to teach someone how to clean themselves.. the infection thing is a myth as well, it derives from one individual who did not clean his foreskin accordingly.. so you can see why it's so popular
well I asked my midwife her opinion on it and she told us that if the dad is curcumsized then the baby should be but if the dad is not then the baby should not be. she said it helps the baby identify with the dad more when he starts using the potty on his own because his will look just like his dads
my husband and I say yes. circumcision or not he'll need to be cleaned just the same.
If I have a boy, we will circumcise our baby because my husband is.
