so, I think if my milk comes in prior to the baby, I'm going to pump as much as possible and freeze it. I'll feed whatever I pumped to the baby, then after that I'll switch to formula.

Milk usually comes in a few days after baby is born. Anything before that is colostrum, which is sticky and difficult to pump and save. Plus nipple stimulation can jumpstart labor. So be careful. Also, there is NOTHING wrong with pumping and storing milk once baby is here. So don't listen to people when they say that. Thawed breastmilk is fine.

it can't cause preterm labor unless your body was ready anyway. I've had plenty of friends who have breastfed pregnant, but definitely don't do it just to pump and store.

Pumping before birth os considered nipple stimulating so I don't recommend doing it before baby is born. Unless you're getting super close to your due date

eep in mind research suggests that the longer you store breast milk — whether in the refrigerator or in the freezer — the greater the loss of vitamin C in the milk. It's also important to note that breast milk expressed when a baby is a newborn won't as completely meet the same baby's needs when he or she is a few months older.

@babynumber1, yes the first bottle you pump will be colostrum, however, when baby is born, your breast milk will change for what the baby's body needs... I'd read up on it. And like I said above, freezing kills a lot of the good stuff.

Freezing breast milk kills a lot of good antibodies and stuff like that.... When you freeze, the milk will still be good, but won't have some of the good things baby needs. I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm not sure about that, but your doctor will tell you that's not the way to go, I think freezing it would cause issues. make sure you ask your doctor before you go pumping before birth

Don't do that. Pumping can cause contractions

Ladies I called my insurance about breast pump and they said with their insurance in order to get a pump I get a prescription from doctor then I call 3 different numbers to see what my insurance covers but the only thing is I have to wait til baby is born to call and get pump so I want to at least buy a hand pump which do you ladies recommend for hand pump and when I can get a pump from insurance please n thank you 💖💖

Breast pump covered by insurance

Breast pump covered by insurance I've already done what I needed to find out what type of pump I get covered through insurance. It turns out, with my insurance, I can't even get my pump shipped to me until I call them with all the birth details of my baby. So...wth am I supposed to do having a baby and no pump?! I plan to pump exclusively and this REALLY throws a wrench in my plans.
