Need some reassurance, advice?

So I'm currently 6 months strong breastfeeding my baby girl, and we just moved from San Antonio to El Paso as of a 5 weeks ago. Since I had her I bled 5 weeks postpartum, then stopped for two weeks and had my first real period for 5 days. Then the following month also 5 days, but since then I've been bleed free. But as soon as we moved here, I've had my period nonstop 5-6 days at a time. I've literally only had about 13 days total where I've been able to venture out tampon free.

I'm here at Fort Bliss with my husband, so I'm seeing military doctors. I made an appointment and my doctor told me that my breastfeeding is simply affecting my cycle and there isn't anything he can do until it's been ongoing for 3-6 months.

I've never had this happen before, and I breastfed my first daughter as well! I'm just worried that this could be more serious, and he isn't really thinking that it is.

So I guess my question is, has anybody ever gone through this before or know anybody who has? And how did they handle it, or were able to do about it?
