why do hospitals keep you so long after birth?

2 days for vaginal birth here too. but with my second I went home the next day because I felt fine, and it was my second, so I knew what I was doing

@hermommy, yeah 2 days is perfect. I had my first baby in Washington state, not sure what the rules are here for missouri I'll ask at my next appointment. Being that I already have a child I'm sure I will want to get home as soon as they allow me to go home.

girl ill be ready after one lol i HATE sleeping with clothes on hate it... lol and i feel like i just wont sleep good there, but atleast thwy can keep people away from me I guess lol thats a big plus @mrshamilton830

2 days seems like forever I be ready to go lol u know you can't get enough rest in hospitals @hermommy I know different cities have different rules but I be ready to go!

@jessd1988 definitely and I wanna get a little help with her and Joseph too that way we know when we take her home I just think 3 days is alittle much lol 2 max if I'm okay

48 hours for natural and 5 days for csection

as long as your able to walk and go to the bathroom alone and in minimal pain you should be able to go home the next day. but honestly it is nice taking an extra day before you go home to reality :)

I gave birth at 10 30pm and since I was up and walking with minimal pain they said I could go home the next day if I wanted, I chose to stay am extra day and be pampered lol

I have to have surgery on my other ovary so it'll be a lot more than a c-section for me

A lot of people told me to stay as long as I can because once we went home we wouldn't get rest but I got way more rest at home with my twins then the hospital ;)

@tlackamp @madilynn16 our is 72 for natural and longer for csection😩 assuming everything goes fine. I was just trying to figure out their point. which I'm fine with it bc I don't have to pay for it and it'll keep people away from me but I like my own bed😩😩😩

@rhia Joseph would have a fit if i ever did that, I'll have to sick it up 😩 i just wish it was t 2 days one after having her would be suffice

Here where I live they only keep you for 24 hours.

@hermommy, our hospital will release you anywhere from 18 hrs to 24 hours after natural delivery and then csection is 2-3 days depending on how your doing.. I think it just varies by hospital & doctor!

most let you go the next day if you had a vaginal birth and 3 days for c section. you can always refuse treatment and go home early i did that with my c section

@pinkkittie87 I don't believe I'll have a csection I'm not sure anything can happen but I def don't wanna stay 5 days lol even with a pivate room here they won't put multiple people in a room in L&D

There just monitoring you and the baby too make sure y'all are ok. I mean you never really know what will happen when that time comes.

I think it depends on the hospital mine if you have a vaginal birth and everything goes right you go home the next day if C-section you stay 2-3 day's.

Money...i mean of course if you have a c section or had complications its def gonna be a longer stay. they tried keeping me longer than one night and i told them no way!! its so much cozier at home in your own space with your new born baby. and some women like to stay. it all depends on you i think and what you want.

Were you tested positive on your b strep test or something like that?

I plan on using all 5 of my days for my scheduled c-section that way when we do go home I'm feeling much better. it also helps that we get a private room for my husband and I and son through his insurance. plus he gets maternity leave

It's just to monitor you and baby and make sure you're both healthy enough to leave

I would think it depends on how your doing and feeling and how baby is doing. A lot of my cousins and friends only stay 24 hours

oh okay, so it kinda just depends? the hospital told me it's a minimum 2 day stay for natural and 3 minimum for csection

I had to after my first because I had 2 shots to clot my blood, super swollen, and because he was my first and they wanted to monitor us
