Has anyone done the process of leaving the umbilical cord in tact for as long as possible after birth?

I read that it's supposed to give the baby a boost for neurodevelopment I'm gonna google some more because I'm sure there's more benefits than just that

What are the benefits that you ladies have read about or experienced?

I did! Only thing that I didn't like was I could feel the cord inside me. lol I just held my baby while we waited for it to stop then daddy got to cut the cord. :D

I'm going to request that mine be left in tact until it stops pulsating.

I wouldn't mind as long as there wasn't any life threatening situations

I heard its 3-5 minutes so all the blood can get through the baby and it can stop pulsing , I heard it can take up to even 15 min @godsjoi @veronicaann

I think it's like 30-60 seconds. I googled it and that's what I found. But it might be longer I'm not sure @godsjoi

are you ranking about delayed cord clamping or a full on Lotus Birth where you carry the placenta around with you until it falls off the baby without cutting. we are doing delayed, Lotus carries a risk of infection of course but some women swear by lotus births.. and you carry around te placenta for like 10 days lol its kinda messy @veronicaann

I want to do it. I'm going to talk with my doctor/midwife about it. I think it will be better for the baby in the long run
