Anyone who had a c-section have the liquid stitches? I'm curious how the recovery was.

I actually had less pain the second time.... the first time my nurses had to have me sit and hold me in the shower this time I stood by myself, albeit I probably looked like the hunch back of notre dame lol but by God I did it.... was able to get up easier to get the baby as well.... 2nd time much much easier barely took pain meds, just motrin mostly, both in the hospital and at home.... I only took stronger stuff when I knew I was going to the shower in the hospital and like 2 other times.... once home only took 3 Norco within the first week

@sarahdrew, my first wasn't planned at all, but I healed so nicely. I'm so scared that I just forgot all the terrible pain and everything and it's really going to be a nightmare.
@sarahdrew, I moved so I'm going to make sure they leave the staples in longer or use the liquid if I have to have another

that may be because I didn't bleed too much during the actual surgery... my nurse was shocked this time by the minimal blood loss in the operating room
the cut didn't bleed very long at all, honestly my first one I think I changed the pad over it due to bleeding twice the second time the only time I saw blood was when I took my shower in the hospital the next day and they took the dressing off, maybe a little more that nite

If you have to have another (some hospitals allow vbac) I would say to either use the liquid or leave the staples in longer.... or if possible go to a different hospital @santistevanmommie
with my first I bled for about a month this time it was almost the full 8 weeks ... sneezing was comfortable (along with laughing) after about 2 weeks, completely pain free after 3 I would say
@emily18234, not planned things just didn't work out. I hadn't shaved my whole pregnancy they just shaved me before they cut me open. The wound care clinic I had to go to had had 5 c section infections all from my hospital come in in one week. @sarahdrew and they did say it may have been from them taking them out too soon and maybe not
I used Johnsons baby wash on mine as instructed by my Dr and hospital.... and @emily18234 is right it's major surgery so anything could go wrong however they should have given you instructions... also did you take a bath? a shower is fine but you shouldn't submerge the area in a tub until healed, my mother in law got an infection from taking a bath
@sarahdrew, how long did you bleed for? how long til you could sneeze comfortably lol
some hospitals take them out before you leave... it depends on the Dr and hospital... if it's was a mix as @emily18234 suggested that could be why they took the staples out I had just the staples
@emily18234, maybe stitches on the inside but staples on the outside, took them out and put steri strips on it and told me to go on my merry way. They didn't give me instructions for cleaning or anything. I ended up with an infection under my skin and having to be cut open all over again.
@santistevanmommie, was yours planned? they gave me a soap to use the night before and day of, this time, but last time it wasn't planned so I could have seen an infection with thay. also they say don't shave the day before, anywhere the neck down. I wouldn't immediately attribute the infection to the length of time the staples were in. it's major abdominal surgery 100 things can go wrong
@santistevanmommie, a week as well. they may have done a staple/stich mix with you though.
@sarahdrew, omg the place I had my daughter took mine out after 3 days!! No wonder I got an infection!

I never reopened mine at all, actually I didn't when I had staples.... it was much easier to keep the liquid stitches clean to me, I was constantly afraid I would get the washrag stuck on the staples
@sarahdrew, my fear is reopening. I had staples the first time and even though I felt I had a super easy recovery, the staples got funky.
I did my first time... recovery was super easy for me (both times actually).... are you wanting to know anything specific? @emily18234
