So I've just been informed from work that I am not entitled to maternity pay so they are putting me on unpaid leave.. I am so upset, this is another cruel way to punish me for being pregnant. I cannot believe it. What is the best thing to do?

They can't do that, they should advice you to get a form from the job centre. You will get maternity allowance. I wouldn't worry. Xx

I'm self employed so different situation, however if you have worked enough weeks of your pregnancy you'll be entitled to smp I get 139 a week for 9 months. Pop to the job centre or call department of work and pensions. I found them really helpful x

You should be entitled to smp via the government, I remember reading something about it on direct gov...worth looking on there for some guidance xx

I think you are, it's not like you were 3 or 4 months pregnant when you joined! then it would be unreasonable for you to not know. If you don't get maternity pay you may get maternity allowance instead which is the same amount anyway.

found this on gov.uk

Problems and disputes

Ask your employer to explain your SMP if you think it’s not right. If you disagree about the amount or your employer can’t pay (eg because they’re insolvent), call HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) employees’ enquiry line.

I'm so hurt because they've waited till now to tell me rather than sooner, I go on maternity the 29th! They have been so horrible to me all pregnancy. I've made an appointment with CAB office to see what's going on, because I know I should be entitled to SMP x

in a similar situation. I fell pregnant 2 weeks after starting work with the nhs. I thought I was not entitled to maternity but I research their policy and I am. go to HR or citizens advice bureau.@beccastirlingx,

I don't think you are if you have only worked for them that long. I would contact the benefits office and see what you would be entitled to, and then find a new job when you are ready for one. They sound like twats x

You should be entitled to it then, maybe go to citizens advice and hopefully they can help you?xx @beccastirlingx

6 months, but the SMP form that I handed in said I was entitled to maternity pay as long as I had been employed with the company since the start of my pregnancy which I believe I was because I didn't know I was pregnant till after I started @stephaniex xx

C-section=OMG!

So let me start off by saying I am completely terrified.

babybump_user Just because you have a c section doesn't mean your milk won't come in.. Some do come
cleopatra1919 I had her on 8/26 and had some leaking of colostrum prior to surgery. As of today
babybump_user I had a emergency c section with my oldest. It was the worst experience I ever had.

Am I wrong to be upset? Last night I was running a fever, weak, tired, sore, my left boob feels like it got used as a punching bag. I asked my husband to call out of work today to help me with the kid so I could get some rest. He went to work. I texted him this morning. Part of me thinks I mean. The other part of me thinks I was fine for saying that because he should've stayed home with us.

ekko I see both sides. However, if you both work and him taking off one day isn’t going
2sweetie I’ve never asked my husband to take a day off when I’m sick. I just deal with
boymama523 He gets the choice to call off if he’s overwhelmed or sick. You (all us mommas) don’t.
