I've heard its not for dilation but for ripening of the cervix and softening it which CAN aid in dilation but not cause it

it helps ready your cervix and studies show labor is 3 hours shorter for women who take it, but it's not intended to induce labor

I took it for about 3 weeks, orally and vaginally, with the okay from my doctor starting at around 33 weeks, at 36 weeks at was only dilated to a 1. 😂 I have since stopped using it. I expected more progression, I may try more just to see around 38-39 weeks. but I heard it is good to prevent tearing, and help dilate as far as induce labor, it won't. it can help you dilate and if you're ready for labor your body will take care of that on it's own.
