@halesbales, I agree 50/50 but at the same time if you don't also put in 50/50 time then you can't really argure for 50/50 payment because as someone who I as taken care of her kid solely I personally do not believe that support would cover half of what I spend on my kid all year and I'm not talking unnecessat stuff. I hear dads argue we need to do 50/50 support but they don't spend 50/50 time with the kids every other weekend and holidays is not 50 50 and it is possible to do it half and half but most men and women do not want to make the sacrifices that go with it but I have seen it done and the child support is reflective of that shared custody it's all about how far as a father you are really willing to go. Mon thru Friday or when kids get sick the dad don't have to worry about finding some alternative to watch the kid when something comes up the mom has to do a lot so I get why there's more financial support for the custodial parent

@ginag918, I'm so sorry that's how that's happened to you :/ I am glad though you are a strong, independent woman who can support your children! I do agree father's should have to pay to help raise their children. I just can't stand to see some men who DO pay for child support to pay way more then necessary. It should be split 50/50. in our sotuation, I feel as if we pay 75% for both kids. (two different mom's btw) We are going to try and put each kids support down a little bit so we don't end up broke when our baby is here.

@sfaubus, 800 a month for one child is ridiculous! especially if it's including the other kids cause that's not how it's supposed to work. You help out YOUR child, not one who has a different dad. (that sounds harsh, but let's be real, men shouldn't pay for other children who have a different fathers). I want my bf to support his children, even though we live out of state and hardly see them. But to pay 600 a month alone in medical insurance and 800 in the 2 children is just crazy.

Smh. I got zero from my oldest dtrs dad they awarded me zero and if I would have pushed custody and visitation I would have been paying him to spend time with his kid that's how broke he presented himself to be smh. if me and my man ever broke up I wouldn't bother with child support I would let him do what he is gone do because it's more of a headache for someone like me who has been working for 15 years and has a great stable career I can't be in and out of court rooms begging for pennies that I Will Probably never see. I do understand some mothers need that support and we all deserve it if we have primary custody of the child but for me personally it's not worth the hassell because I can take care of my two with or without the financial support at this time. should things ever change i would have no choice but to pursue it. Shout out to the good dads who pay child support and spend time with their kids those are the real jewels!

It's because the good ones are paying for the actions of the bad ones, my exhusband the biological father of my first child has made a total of 4 child support payments in last 7 years, he currently owes over 22k in back owed, the 4 payments he made were not made willingly and he quit his job once again and started working under the table again to avoid paying it. In the 8 years my daughter has been alive (pregnancy to birth) these 4 payments is the most money that he has ever spent on her. Oh and hasn't been around for the last 7 years either by his choice. You also have to think there are some moms out there who are RAPING these good fathers in child support, I dated a guy who payed 800 a month for 1 child that was 9 years old (a boy) and the only reason he had to pay that much is because the mother had two other children with her husband and the state said it's an inconvenience on her to take care of three kids, so basically he was paying child support for three children when he only had one, also this guy worked in commission so during the winter his checks being maybe 2200 a month, after rent, bills and child support we had hardly anything left. Some biological fathers are real shit bags and most women don't see a dime in child support, I did a hallelujah dance every time I got a check, and then I would guess how long it would take for him to quit his job.
