soooo nervous for my interview at Carters today. like seriously, I'm 24 weeks pregnant and can't really hide it. and what happens if I get the job.... when do I tell them I am pregnant if somehow they couldn't tell to begin with? lol Praying I get this job I need it so bad!
I got denied a job here in WA because I openly told them I was expecting, later that week I called them to find out about the position and they said they found someone better fit...I later found out that very day from a friend of mine that it's not that the person was better fit I was actually more qualified than them it was because I was pregnant but I nor them had any proof of them saying that when I contacted the human rights office they told me I could submit a report but chances are nothing would happen because we had no physical, video with audio proof of them saying it. I was also fired from a job because I got sexually harassed and the managers response when I told him after I had filed a complaint with human rights he said to me "I don't believe you, your lying my kind would never do that" I couldn't even get them on wrongful termination.@misskass20
yeah. I will definitely post how it goes :) @kat616 it would be a miracle if I got this job bcuz then my fiance and I can FINALLY get our own place
@kat616, yeah I'm hoping and praying that all will go well with them. I plan on not saying anything about it at the interview but then when offered the job I will probably say something since I am 24 almost 25 weeks pregnant already
oh no. here in cali it is illegal to discriminate against pregnant women. they can't turn us away bcuz we are pregnant. although it may be hard to fight and say that they didn't give us the job bcuz were pregnant it is illegal for them to deny us bcuz of it @sfaubus
Of all stores I feel like Carters would be the most accepting. And it seems like a great store to work at. Good luck!
Idk how it is in Cali but here in Washington it's an "at will employment state" meaning they can fire you for any reason or deny you a job for any reason even if it's illegal because all they gotta say is "we found someone better fit for the position"
@sfaubus, yeah I know it's illegal. I'm just praying they give me the job :)
With my first job and first kid I didn't tell my job till I had to give them a dr's note from the hospital after having some issues, they just looked at me and their response was "your 7 and a half months pregnant? Where?" I jut wore a big shirt and a sweat shirt all the time, just like a do now lol
it's also against the law for them to deny you the job because you are pregnant.@misskass20
I was a store manager at Carter's actually and although you can't be turned down for being pregnant there is other things that they will turn you down for saying it wasn't the pregnancy.. You are right they most likely don't want to hire someone with the knowledge you will be taking time off a few month down the road especially if it's a management position.. That said, I did hire a pregnant girl because I liked her and she was an asset to the team.. so it's individual and most likely up to the hiring manager.. good luck... @misskass20
yeah I don't plan to at the interview. but they gotta know eventually so they can play to have someone take my place when maternity leave comes up @bridgete
well although it is illegal to discriminate against a pregnant woman they can technically still turn me down if they noticed I was pregnant... I am 24 almost 25 weeks and my bump is pretty noticeable in most of my clothes lol and most people don't wanna hire someone they are gonna have to replace in 3 months... I'm gonna reassure them though that unless something comes up I want to do my best to work up until my due date. so we shall see. :) @caitlynr @nichole_lynn
You tell them at the interview you're pregnant! They can't not hire you because of that.
wow! that's seriously fucked up! I would be so pissed! and yeah its hard to get a case against someone for denying u a job based on pregnancy but I already have a plan. lol if I were to be denied based on that. I would sue and have them see if the other person was more qualified than me... I have a pretty good resume with a lot of certifications... and then they would probably come to find that the other person was NOT more qualified than me. lol but yeah I'm pretty sure I'll get the job today. I guess we will just see how it goes. and I will definitely post how it went @sfaubus
