I waited until all my steri strips fell off, and until I wasn't really in pain anymore, and of course till it looks like it's completely closed. Just go slow because it'll be numb where your incision is (at least mine still is) so you won't feel when you're shaving that area. I used just water for the first couple times until I was more comfortable and until it was healed some more
