Have any of you ladies had low platelet count in combination with severely low vitamin D while pregnant? How did your pregnancy and delivery go? I just got off work and there was a message from my midwife saying, "We got the results from your lab work and everything looks really great, for the most part. Your vitamin D level is severely low, it's at a 12 and should be in the 70's so we'll start you out on 10,000 IU daily. Also, your platelets are low. Did you experience this during your previous pregnancies?" So of course I had to look it up and now I'm super paranoid that I'm going to bleed out while giving birth, and I wasn't planning to have my baby at a hospital. And both issues together point to an autoimmune disorder, such as lupus. :( I feel like my entire pregnancy has just been taken away from me and I'm scared something horrible is going to happen. If anyone else experienced this, let me know that everything will be okay.

oh I know what platelets are lol I'm just not sure what would cause them to be low. and don't be terrified. trust in your doctor they will monitor you closely and probably monitor your blood work but don't be terrified. the stress isn't good either!

@jwest267, platelets are what help your blood to clot properly. With an inadequate amount of platelets, you're at an increased risk of hemorrhaging. Low platelets in addition to low vitamin D commonly points to an autoimmune disease. I'm trying so hard not to stress out, but I'm seriously so terrified of being pregnant now. :(

I'm not sure about the platelet issue but my doc said being low in vitamin D is extremely common. they instructed me to take 2000 daily. try not to stress momma 😁
