I plan on the crib being super close to my bed.

There's a chance they can die of side either way and with that, theres nothing you can do to stop it. letting her sleep in the bed with you is more dangerous than letting her sleep on her own. if you want her close, get a bassinet or a cosleeper bed

It's not good to have the baby in your bed. Your arm alone can crush an infant. My boyfriend and I have a bassinet and my OB said to place baby on her back and no blankets or anything in there with her and she would be just fine but never let the baby sleep in the bed and he suggested a baby monitor. I have a basic one so I can hear her at night. @ayanhigirl

It's definitely more dangerous to have her in the bed with you. I agree with keeping her close to your bed for convenience sake. Bassinets are fairly cheap too.

I also got one of these for in the bed. Not sure if I'll use it.

I don't think we should bash cosleeping as I'm sure there are many women here who do or will chose to. With my oldest son, I had a bassinet beside my bed and was able to get him in and out every time he woke up. However, very shortly into it, the bassinet began being used for naps only and he slept on my chest or in the crook of my arm, and by three months he slept propped in a boppy under the top sheet (the boppy, not my son.) Lol. I also had moved upstairs where a king size bed was directly on the floor, though. So if he rolled the fall wasn't far and we were on two different sides of the bed with no threat of me rolling. Not that it is either right or wrong. Choose what feels best to you as momma. If you would like to keep a close ear on baby in the same room, play and rockers by fisher price are a decent price and multi functional. If you want them in another room, a baby monitor can do the trick. Don't underestimate your instincts as a mother, either. I do not intend to cosleep with this child. But luckily I am in a one bedroom apartment now, and both his bassinet and crib are nearby.
