So ladies I got a question. My milk came in today and my boobs are beyond swollen. And rock hard. I swear they are like 3 sizes bigger. Like some double DDs :((( I'm in the worst pain. My LO doesn't latch, she doesn't want my boob. Don't know what to do for the pain. Any suggestions?
Try squeezing a little milk out and setting your nipple at your babies nose then run your nipple down to her mouth. My nurses taught me that, and it worked well! You can also see lacation counselors for free at the hospital!
when you have a lot of milk is difficult for your baby to latch properly. just pump save the milk and try to get her to latch. massage massage massage your bobs while you are pumping and use a heating pad
you should feel free relieved after you pump but since you don't have a pump hand express to relieve the pain try to it in a bag to save it too
my daughter doesnt like to latch so i pump and feed it to her in a bottle
She used to latch but I can't get her to latch now. :/ and I don't get my breast pump until tomorrow. Don't know if I'll b able to take this pain to sleep. :( anyone know once I start pumping how long before the pain starts to go away.
do you usually breast feed? like, does she normally latch & nurse? whenever I was still able to breast feed, my babe had trouble latching if I was engorged. I would have to express some, either by hand or with a pump, before she nursed so she could latch. if you are trying to breast feed, you need to empty them if they get like that, or you'll loose your supply. if you don't intend to breast feed/exclusively pump, wrap them up tight until you dry up.
Would love to breast feed. I know the milk is better for her. So if I can't get her to latch I definitely plan on pumping
buy a medela nipple shield. I have that problem. Google them and it will explain what it is. works great!
I plan to pick up my breast pump tomorrow. How long after I start pumping before the pain will go away
Either pump and store milk. If your not planning on breast feeding to relive some of the engorgment take a hot shower and face away from the shower head and let the hot water hit your shoulder blades it will help with the pain
you'll get relief immediately after you pump. make sure to empty your breast if you want to keep your supply up.
ibuprofen helps with the pain
