Labor Story!
On Friday 2/5 at 11pm my water finally broke! I had a membrane sweep that Wednesday and ever since then, I was having inconsistent contractions and was losing large pieces of my mucous plug/having a bloody show! From 7:30pm Friday until my water broke, I was having minor contractions about 6-8 minutes apart. But once my water broke--everything stopped.
I called my parents (who live an hour and a half away) and they headed up to watch my older kiddo (he's 21 months). By the time I got to the hospital it was 2:30am, and still no consistent contractions! They checked me in and monitored baby for a bit and we tried EVERYTHING to get labor started on its own. After 24 hours of my water breaking and still no progress, we made the decision to start a low dose of pitocin. I was super scared, but I felt I was just delaying the inevitable.
We stared the pitocin at 10:00pm on the 6th, and a half hour later, contractions came hard and fast! I labored on my side for a bit, then standing leaning on my hubby and then on all fours leaned over a peanut yoga ball. I pushed kind of side laying, and at 12:55 am on the 7th little man was born! 2.5 hours from first contraction to baby's arrival and no meds! He was sunny side up too! 💙
I feel completely different than after having my first! He came relatively fast as well (5 hours) but I tore in a super awkward spot and had rebroken my tailbone 😩 recovery was HORRIBLE. This time around I feel amazing and recovery has been SUPER easy! 💙 just goes to show every pregnancy and birth is different!
Congrats! All 5 of my deliverys have been so different some were like night and day. Also I love this picture @kmally
