if you really want to breast feed do not give your baby a bottle of any kind for any reason for the first 3 weeks. you ruin your chances of successfully breastfeeding each time you offer a bottle. your creating nipple confusion and supply issues. just don't give up or give in!babies are meant to breast feed. your healthy full term baby will latch even if it takes awhile to figure it out. you'll get it. sometimes it's just a change in how you hold your baby. it a change in timing. maybe your waiting to long to feed. just don't give up and keep going. sorry for the long unnecessary vent.
@princessvictoria, you're probably right like his pediatrician. And she did suggest couple times per week. Just love that bond we have when I breast feed and don't want him to like the bottle more than the breast. Being selfish but not practical. Thank you
I feel you lol sometimes I don't mind usually I don't mind actually but I like to shower and he always gets super cranky when I take a shower when if I just fed him. and he always gets hungry in the car lol
@madelynnb no my daughter won't take pacifiers either tried several and nope... and no I haven't tried menbie but I'll look into it and order it because girl I can't go anywhere with out her because she won't take the bottle
I introduced first bottle at 5 weeks and he took one and then I waited to long to introduce the next and stopped taking them. he gags pukes and screams now I try to reintroduce a bottle a few times a week occasionally he will drink and ounce or 2. he does take a mam paci only. we have tried so many bottles it's ridiculous I really want to try the menbie bottle but it's so expensive and I can't bring myself to buy it. to find out he won't take it either. @princessvictoria have you tried menbie
@nurseriri I understand what your saying but maybe u should if your going back to work my daughter is 5 months and she refuses to take a bottle or pacifiers I've tried all of the bottles possible. I waited till six weeks and she would gag at the bottle or pacifiers. .but that was my experience
@madelynnb, absolutely correct. I'm 6 weeks PP and have not introduced any other nipple to Ethan to avoid the nipple confusion. No paci, no bottles and no formula. His pediatrician suggested for me to start introducing bottle with the breast milk at least 2 times per week so he can get used to it. Not ready to do that. Closer to when I'm ready to return to work.
