my hubby wanted me to do it too I only lasted almost three months :( it was hard and I wasn't making enough so I did both and it got worse so stopped and just had him on formula my son drinks 12 oz
talk to a lactation consultant, take a breastfeeding class (my hospital offered a free one)... it's gets trying at times but if you can just stick with it (if you choose to do it)... just remember you will be the one who gets up with baby, but I like it as its totally quiet in the house and I can just sit and rock my daughter while she eats, it's like our own special time (during the day I have my 2 year old to contend with).... either way you decide, don't let anyone shame you for it, you are doing what is best for your family... my son had expressed milk for 2 months (he was a premie so he wouldn't latch) then was on formula and my daughter has been nursing for 4 months and still going ... it's not for everyone by any means.... just know there is help out there if you decide to do it
Breastmilk is amazing, and nursing is a special way to connect and bond with baby. But whatever you choose, your baby will be nourished! I just have to say though, it's not scary! It was painful at first. It really was. But you push through that, and the outcome is beautiful. If you don't want to nurse, you could try pumping and giving bottles! It's much cheaper than formula ;) good luck mama!
