Congrats! Right now you're in the best place!! Do you FF or BF, the best way to help jaundice is by making baby eat, she's probably not crying much due to the jaundice and just wanting to sleep. My 10 mths old and I spent well over a week in the hospital when he was born due to jaundice.

@a011083, we stayed 2 nights 3 days all together usually it's 2 days I believe. It all depends on you and the baby and the hospital you deliver at

They seriously told you her mouth is too small? that's a whole load of bs, just saying. Baby's mouth will grow accustomed to the size in due time. .. but being jaundiced, pumping is the BEST thing to do! WTG Momma :) She's beautiful!

@ilyric, they didn't say that that was definitely the problem but I had some complications and she was born really fast or else i would of had to have an emergency csection but she still had a lot of fluid on her stomach and that made her not want to eat the first day and as an affect they said that the jaundice levels just went up bc the breastmilk didn't have a chance to really help with it bc she wouldn't eat much the first day. But they did 12 hrs under the lamp and we are home now, but the lactaction nurse and my regular nurses were so proud and astounded with how much I was pumping my first day, my first time pumping I pumped 35ml so over an oz!! I was really proud too lol I really want to breastfeed so we rented a pump and I just had her Wednesday and I'm pumping ATLEAST an oz on each side every time I pump.. They told me that I obviously was already leaking my colostrum during pregnancy bc I was already producing my transition milk the first day lol so I guess it's going great!! Got a pump rented until mine comes and I'm pumping every couple of hours bc of engorgement

Also you can try a nipple shield to help if you'd like her to latch because ultimately in the end she will get more milk effectively out of you than the pump will. :) I'm proud to hear of your progress and finally being home! Stay on top of it because levels can go back up.

Btw, I deliver my babies fast too, they've all been considered csec babies because of the quick delivery leaving them full of fluids.

@ilyric, but the reason they said her mouth could be too small is bc when she nurses her mouth should cover my whole areola and it doesn't so they said as she gets a few days or weeks older it should get easier for her.. And thank you! She's beautiful to me too! Lol and I worked with the lactaction consultant and we tried a shield, it helped a little bit but I do think her mouth is too small she struggled with it and it really hurt bc she wasn't latching properly.. But I'm definitely not giving up! This is something I really want and I'm giving it my all!! Thank you! And yeah they had the OR ready for a section and he told me that if I didn't push her out quickly then we were doing a section.. So I pushed 12 times and she was out! But I ripped really bad. That's another story lol Sometime tmrw I'm going to post my labor and delivery story
