When is everyone going on maternity leave? I'm due around April 8th and I only work part time. My boss said I can take as long as I need for leave, but work is so exhausting lately. I'm feeling guilty but I wonder if I should take it a little early. If I worked full time I'd stay as long as possible but I'm beginning to wonder if the 200$ I make every two weeks is worth it.

@alainalovesmommy, was that enough time for you?

I went two weeks before my due date, mainly because I waited until my Dr could pull me out, which is 38 weeks with no complications. It was too much time for me! Time dragged, then I was almost two weeks overdue. So four weekend on my mat leave were spent twiddling my thumbs, id rather be busy, it makes the time go quicker! IMO

I am due April 1st and I work part-time as well. I am going to work until I go into labor because my job doesn't pay for me to go on maternity leave. I need the little money I make. But I counted down the days until it time to have the baby because I tired everyday after working. Maybe next month my doctor will take off work for bed rest.

@madilynn16, I get the money thing, but I was reading that taking leave around week 35 lowers your risk of c-section and increases recovery speed. So I've been going back and forth on getting a little extra money and potentially saving on medical bills and recovery. I don't know, its a toss up. :\ Add the absolute pain of working the few shifts I do and I'm leaning toward not worth it... the decisions are so hard!

There is no way to know if you need a c-section to deliver your baby. The baby could be in distress or you are not dilating and there is no progression in your labor. There are unseen circumstances during delivery. The best thing to do is get as rest as you can.

@madilynn16, Exactly, if there's even a small chance to decrease the odds of one, I'm going to take it.
