I am so freaking stressed out. My daughter won't take from me when I'm breastfeeding so I am exclusively pumping. I feel like my supply is low and I'm trying to avoid having to get formula. Any tips on how to maintain and increase my supply?? I have motherlove lactation pills I have yet to take, I just didn't know if it was safe to take before consulting a doctor.

I heard that continuing prenatals helps you supply and also eating lots of fruits and veggies.? good luck momma. I hope everything works out for you!

@rainbowbaby2015, I'm still taking prenatals. I'm still trying to tweak my diet, not that it's terrible. But it's all so stressful. Breastfeeding is seriously such a hassle:[

I exclusively pump also. if you have facebook there are a few groups on there I am part of that has helped me a lot let me know and I will get you the name. some food tips to increase your supply are drinking chocolate malt ovaltine, eating oatmeal, drinking gatorade, oatmeal pies and making sure you drink lots and lots of water. I also take Gaia lactation support pills, with some people the pills help and others it hurts their supply so it's a trial and error.

try to relax ( I know easier said than done) but try. Stressing affect your milk supply. When I pump I massage my breast it helps a bit. I also started eating oatmeal and drinking plenty of water. Some days are good some aren't. It's a struggle but try not to give up. Also did you try seeing a lactation's consultant to see if they can assist with your baby latching?

and I know it is a lot of work, there are days I want to set my pump on fire lol. My son refused to latch from the beginning so I am going on 15 weeks of pumping. also another thing is that you have to make sure your flange size is correct, if it is to small or to big it could cause you to not be able to empty fully.

@lala86, thank you for the tips! I'll be sure to try them. Did you consult your doctor about taking the pills? I have Motherlove pills that a friend gave me but I haven't taken them cuz I'm too nervous to take them.
@skyy08, I haven't seen a lactation consultant. I mean I could see the one that was helping me in the hospital but I really did not enjoy her presence. My daughter knows how to latch, she's just too impatient because the lack of flow, plus she's eating about 3 if not more ounces and I can only produce 2:[

no I didn't talk to a doctor about taking lactation pills. but I did tell them that I take vitamins and they said that is fine. cause I also take omega 3 for post partum depression since I had a horrible allergic reaction to 2 different medications
