I know it's not something I should be worrying about yet, but once this baby is born I need a colposcopy to check out my cervix. I had low-grade HPV (I guess that's not supposed to be cancerous). But, some things I read online says it hurt really bad. Has anyone experienced this procedure? I'm literally terrified. Especially when it says you're in horrible pain for days after and bleeding and all that. It's horrifying to me. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain down there...
No can just be a small sample! And if bad with displaysa, like I had they will take a small piece. No worries girl!
@shananaginsx, My mom said they might not even have to take anything from my cervix, if there's no dysplasia or whatever it's called. So maybe it'll be totally fine and I'll have worried for nothing. I'll just have to wait and see
I feel ya... I worried for awhile too! Hell I worried until I was 18 weeks cause I was paranoid he was going to fall out. Until he reassured me I had nothing to worry about. I thought I was never gonna have babies, but you can.
@shananaginsx, @jamielynn07 Thanks for making me feel better about this! I'm just over thinking, with all these pregnancy hormones and all. I just have horrible anxiety as it is so it's been 10x worse
I had it done also and it was slightly uncomfortable, just a little bit of cramping, and I had some heavy discharge for about a week and wore a pad. I healed good and have had normal paps since and I'm pregnant for the 3rd time.
Nope! I was worried about it to... But here I am a year later! If they need to, they will stitch it to make sure baby stays in! But I am fine, mine healed good and he only took what he needed.
@shananaginsx, So it doesn't stop you from having kids after? Because I'm worried about that too
I had a leep done about a year ago and it wasn't that bad... Uncomfortable yes but not terrible. It's like a pap just longer... Only bled a tad after and healed nicely. Now holding my little man in very well!
@little_bean9716, VERY true! I did have a beautiful 7 lb. 1 oz. baby boy 3 years ago 😂 @babyreeves They basically told me that I just had an abnormal pap which showed I have a low grade type of HPV and they just want to make sure everything's fine down there
if the results come back that there are masses, they could do a biopsy or something (which they won't do during pregnancy.) Drs are just cautious about doing the procedure during the first trimester because it can increase the chance of miscarriage (as can paps and cervix checks.) I was freaking out about mine until it happened and it took all of like 2 minutes. the speculum is the worse part lol.
yeah mine wasn't bad either time. a bit worse than a pap smear but not as bad as birth I'm sure! you can do this!
@lottle_bean9716, @babyreeves this literally makes me feel 100x better. I guess people who posted things on WebMD were speaking of getting polyps taken off their cervix or something along those lines
I didn't cramp or bleed. it was basically like a pap. slightly uncomfortable. they did it while I was pregnant. it's just a vinegar solution they rub on your cervix to see if it reacts.
I have had it before on 2 separate occasions. Although it does cramp during & for a couple hours after I never had much if any bleeding & no cramping past a couple hours. Hope that helps!
@anymabundio, after you get it done does it hurt too? Or is it manageable?
And @frankiesmama I am so scared...
I just found out today that my pap came back abnormal so I have to get another one in a year and if it's still abnormal then I'll have to get the procedure. Not going to lie I'm terrified as well
@shananaginsx, thanks so much!
