Not pregnancy related its about my 9 year old son. Does anyone have any experience with their child having add or ADHD?…

I had it my whole life, I hated taking meds every day. Kept me in a blurry fog. But I was taking very high amounts of prescribed Ritalin long lasting. I'd suggest putting him on anything but that. Or adderall

I had a friend growing up that was on Ritalin and he ripped his braces off in my driveway because he said his teeth hurt so bad and alot of other stuff. I think it's been an issue since he was real little but its just really starting to affect his school now. I know I struggled in school as I got older and couldn't retain anything I read if there was even the slightest noise around me.

And thank you @rylansmomma I am getting nothing but attitude from the mothers. I'm not even at the point if meds right now im gonna try tutoring and a plan that allows him to be removed during tests.

That's what my teachers done for me, I was also put in a smaller class with less distractions. But the meds was all for my hyperactiveness. I grew out of most of it sometimes I still find myself distracted tho. @34466

I was on Adderall from age 7 to 18, I'm 20 now and have pretty much grown out of the ADHD but I was very fortunate that it was nothing but positive for me. When I started the dosage was too high and I was zombie like but once we got the mg to the right amount, it was good. only side effect i ever had was appetite suppression but without it I'd want to eat everything in sight so it wasn't a bad effect for me. if i were to be in the situation when my child were to get older, I'd give it a shot, in the hopes it worked as well for them as it did me.

Ok I lived this first hand and I hated the meds. I was on concerta at first and it did nothing for me then my mom got me on adderall and I was learning to focus and being able to do my work but for me I couldnt eat and ended up losing weight like crazy. I would not be able to eat a single thing all day not even dinner because I just couldnt stand the taste of anything in my mouth. There was days were I was to weak to get out of bed and my mom had to pretty much force me to eat anything and it wouldnt be a lot if I even ate anything. I just dont see a point in putting a child on any kind of meds unless its medically necessary but thats just me because I lived it. I got better on my own and graduated high school without any meds.

I have adhd and my mom put me on medication in high school because that's when it was at it's worst. If she had put her foot up my ass like she was supposed to I wouldn't have bipolar disorder too. Foot to ass don't have side effects.

Have you tried changing his diet? My twin brother was on meds and they made him underweight and prone to strange behavior. When he was 16 he somehow was suddenly able to quit everything in able to join the Navy like he wanted to and has been fine since. My little brother is overweight now and on them. I begged not to be as a child and was able to do it.
