Do any you mom's have a method for potty training? omg it's so hard.... idk how to start any advise please
Repetition have a half schedule like 30 minutes after eating and drinking
It took me about 2 weeks to realize with my first son that patience is key. Also, I wouldn't transition into underwear completely until after he does his first bowel movement in his potty. Very valuable lesson learned from the first time. Every time you change his diaper talk about going in the potty. Use positive reenforcement and when he uses the potty make a huge deal out of it. My oldest son is 4 and will run in the room saying he just went poop and I will still give him a high 5 or tell him good job. lol
So I'm potty training my youngest son right now at a very slow pace. We encourage him to use the potty every time he takes his diaper off. When he sits down I tell him to pee on the little dot in the toilet, sometimes he wants to, sometimes he doesn't. When he uses the potty, we are very over enthusiastic about it. We high five and yell and give stickers. lol. When he refuses to use the potty, shakes his head at me, or tells me no, I do one of two things. I put him in underwear and continue to encourage him to go every 5-10 minutes, especially after drinking something. Or I put a diaper back on him, which when he pulls it off, we run straight to the potty, if he hasn't used his diaper yet.
Always encourage to go after he wakes up in the morning and after a nap but never push him. If he tells you no, he doesn't want to use the potty, don't force him. I tried to get my oldest son to do it when he didn't want to and it took longer. He wasn't potty trained until after 2, with my youngest son, he will be 2 in April and is making more progress with patience.
@arijane316, .... are you talking about a puppy?
@leishlam Is your kiddo showing signs that they're ready? Curiosity of the potty, pulling diaper off, telling you they just peed or pooped, wanting to take diaper off after wetting themselves? things like that.
thank you ladies for the advise I will keep everything in mind and hope he's out of diapers before my baby girl is born :')
