I've spoken about my nephew before on here....my nephew is in what seems to be a coma after the hospital he's at…

@tahtahme, my husband rarely has anything nice to say about her and I was really angry with him for a while because he wouldn't give her a chance to show she was better. now I see why. my fil is afraid this will push her over the edge because she's been bordering the edge for a month. Dom was supposed to come home by Christmas and they keep extending the date and won't give her reasons.

@tahtahme, because she's an addict and as my husband puts it "she's fucking nuts". she needed a mental evaluation done to even be allowed to take Dominic home, so I think they have their own reasons for thinking he's better off somewhere else. my personal opinion is, she was doing well and I hoped it would change her because she can be a really horrible person sometimes, I was really proud of her until she started some drama about my kids and marriage and I saw she wouldn't change. my husband isn't particularly happy that she had a child because he doesn't think she's capable of taking care of it. I tried giving her the benefit of the doubt, but like I said, as much as I can't stand her, I would never wish this on her.

So why would they take the baby if she is supposed to be on these meds for the rest of her life??? This is such an awful situation and no amount of .money can replace a babies life in the family.

@tahtahme, she will be on it the rest of her life. it replaces the heroin in the person's system but side effects can make you almost zombie like. I don't think they ever discussed the effect it would have on her son. it is a HUGE mistake and the hospital he's at is supposed to be good. I know my FIL called a lawyer so I think they are going to sue. I just want Dom to wake up because this may end up sending her off the deep end

Wow and due to their negligence, now she will be able to sue! How could they make such a huge mistake??? Was she supposed to be off Methadone while pregnant or did her Dr prescribe it and she abused it?

@tahtahme, like I'm not trying to bash her...because I would be livid in this situation too. from what I know, they attempted to give him an MRI without her consent and accidentally overdosed him. I may have issues with her, but that's still my family and I'm shocked this happened

@tahtahme, methadone is a recovery drug for heroin addicts and can sometimes be worse then heroin itself :( it causes similar withdrawal symptoms and Dom has been withdrawing from it since he was born. it's really horrible to watch and she's in complete denial. she also isn't quite right mentally and I noticed the hospital has been telling her "he'll be home by this date" every week. I figured they're trying to find a reason why she wouldn't be able to care for him....

I want him to go home with her because I feel it would be good. but there's always that fear that she'll relapse and I'm not the only one who feels this way. I haven't even told my husband about it yet and this will kill him. they just lost their grandfather a few days ago and now Dom is in a coma -.-

methadone? As in meth the drug???

@tahtahme, my nephew being there is. she's on methadone and was her entire pregnancy. the only reason he was being kept in that nicu was so they could take him away. it's sad. it really is, but I do hope he recovers and I hope this opens her eyes.

@kbogzxo, they're making arrangements to transfer him to another hospital as soon as he's stable. apparently this happened 3 days ago -.- and there have been no changes. we had a falling out because I felt she was in denial about why he's still in the NICU and this pretty much confirms what I've been suspecting. but as much as I can't stand her, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy :/
