I work at Carter's Baby's & Kids and we allow you to exchange for another item equal or lesser value or you can pay the difference without a receipt as long as the tags and what not are still in tact. It happens all the time!
go to the store and tell them you got it as a gift and just want to pick something else
give one to someone else and keep the other or ask them for the receipt so you can exchange it
