I have a Facebook friend who I don't really know. I bought shoes off her once and she's trying to tell me what to feed my baby. I hate when people try to tell me what to do let alone with my own child. She asked if I was going to formula feed my son, I said no. strictly breast milk. she said do both. I said no, I'm going to just breastfed, I already told wic so I don't need vouchers. she said my kids never liked breast milk. (she recently had her 4th kid) so she also said I'm doing both formula and breast milk since I'm waiting for my milk to come in.
ummmm.... okay??? and ?? I'm going to breastfeed my son. I don't want to nipple confuse him. that's my choice!

Sounds like she's just trying to be helpful. A know it all, but obnoxiously helpful. Some babies don't breastfeed well, and some mom's cannot produce milk. It's good that you want to breastfeed but don't expect for it to be as you dream. You may or may not be able to, and I'm sure she was just trying to share some motherly wisdom with you.

Plus, breast milk doesn't come in all at once. It's okay to supplement formula with breast milk until your production is up. I think that's what she meant.

@rebekkahfowler, I'm aware. I was forced to take a breastfeeding class by wic. she doesn't know me so she shouldn't really be in my business. milk doesn't come all at once, obviously. some people don't even get it for a few days that's why some babies eat as often as every 30 minutes because it's not really milk. babies are born with a natural suckle reflex. they know how to. it's encouraged to breastfeed within two hours after birth so the baby can get used to the mom. it's not supposed to hurt, if it does obviously you're not doing it right. according to wic. :)

Yup sounds about right. Just do whatever you feel comfortable doing! Your doctor will tell you if the baby isn't gaining enough weight.
