I plan to deliver vaginally with no meds, BUT know a C-section is a possibility. Can any mommies let…

are you asking about c-section? I've had 2... one emergency which I was completely knocked out for and the second was on its scheduled date (first had been scheduled but had to deliver due to fetal distress at 32 weeks 4 days)..... my milk was delayed with my second but now breastfeeding is going great (going on 4 months)... I didn't feel a thing with the spinal just a little tugging is all.... they actually had me walk to the bathroom that night altho I still had my catheter so I didn't use the bathroom, the nurse just cleaned up the blood on my backside (still bleed heavily after c-section just like vaginally).... it wasn't bad at all honestly

c-sections are not bad. Ive had 2 and this will be my 3rd one. You can do the same thing as a person who has had a vaginal birth. It only depends on the method they use to close you up and your pain tolerance.

my recovery wasn't bad either.... I just wasn't allowed to lift more than a gallon of milk for about a month, so I had to have help with my toddler..... honestly the right side of my pelvic area is still numb all the way back to my vagina, even around my incision is still numb that takes the longest to heal completely

@sarahdrew, was the tugging bad? I have watched videos but those women are WARRIORS lol They barely flinch.

@lashellg, I have a decent tolerance but I'm afraid of staples. Have you had them? Can they do stitches?

@tayek, it wasn't bad at all, they tugged for maybe 30 seconds, it actually felt a little weird to me lol they then brought my daughter for us to see and then wrapped her and brought her back to lay on me for about a minute then her and daddy went to recovery

@sarahdrew, my apologies if I sound like a spaz lol This would be my first time having surgery under local anesthesia. Also a C-section is the only surgery where you get to meet your little lovebug!

you don't at all @tayek it's a new experience for you, I asked all these questions during my first pregnancy (but I don't remember the surgery because of being out)... everything will be fantastic I'm sure :) that is true only time surgery welcomes a new little person

I prefer c-section bc at least you get to choose the day 5 days early from your due date. Its like you get a time and day and just show up lol

There's also not so much bleeding bc you weren't in active labor

it can be very scary. they gave me steary strips. follow directions to the T what they tell you to do. rest & no heavy lifting.

@lashellg, I like the less bleeding part for sure lol @mommyhughes4 those are sorta like bandages, I could definitely handle that. Would I be able to hold the baby by myself or with the boppy?

yes you will be able to hold just your baby but nothing heavier than that. no carrying baby in car seat eather!! and yes they are sorta like bandages, they come off after a couple days but if your dr had to pull one or two off it's a pain in the ass lol.

@mommyhughes4, how long before I can get back to baths?

@lashellg, ok. Thanks so much for putting up with my interrogation! I'm not feeling anywhere near as nervous now, so if they say C-section I'll just take a deep breath and go for it @sarahdrew @mommyhughes4 y'all were a huge help. I read up on it online and in the hospital pamphlets but talking to real moms was much better.

talking to people who have experienced it definitely helps.... my mil had one but it had been 29 years since so she wasn't much help lol

just know if they offer pain meds take it before the last day you leave. When that anesthesia wears off you dont want to feel all of the after math. Thats how I was with my son.

don't think you won't have heavy bleeding, some women do, I didn't with my son but I did with my daughter.... your body still has to clean itself out, and your uterus still has to contract back down to normal size (they gave me pitocin to help with that).... just be prepared for either way

umm until your healed i would only take a shower. your not supposed to submerge it in water it could cause infection.
