Mommies with gestational diabetes... How did you change your diet?
I have it. I eat my 3 main meals and small snacks. I watch my diet now and count my carbs and portion sizes. It's really not bad
@mom422, not diagnosed yet. I actually passed my one hour test but have been spilling glucose in my urine. Preparing myself for it if they want to switch my diet.
@wiccanmommy, your welcome not sure if you just started just a lil heads up it might feel like to much but your body is just getting adjusted to the medicine once the hang of it you will be able to cheat a few times a month!
it's all about small portion control you have to eat breakfast lunch and dinner also small snacks in between because if you dont your sugar can drop and that's bad for you and the baby I've been on insulin twice a day for the past 2 months
not sure about dieting but light exercise works really good my mom has diabetes and she pretty much eats what she wants and exercise a few times a week she had gestational with all her pregnancies
I have to prick myself 4x a day and when i do splurge I try to walk
bananas are good dont eat to much they can make you consipated . but grapes cantalope strawberry cherries peaches are all good because its a natural sugar not artifical . oh no fried food your sugar will go up . I know there will be days that you will want to eat something fried make sure you walk at leat 20 min around the house outside that will help with dropping yoir sugar levels if to high.
I doing the same as @jas0626 fruits I eat probably only like half of a banana in the a.m and save the other half for later just cause it has sugar in it also.
@jas0626, what about fruits like banana? Thank you.
lots of veggies , lean meat , chicken , fish , salad cut the juice out and soda lots of water .
I'm a type 2 diabetic. but just started insulin upon pregnancy. j count my carbs all day. I dont cut out anything including juice or soda. I just count carbs when I decide to splurge. I eat so much peanut butter it's insane. eating protein, carbs, and fat in every meals and snack!
