I can't be the only mom who hates alcohol. yes I drink one or two times a year if that but I'm honestly considering not even doing that much. I don't want my kids exposed to it thinking its okay and normal. am I wrong for telling the baby's dad I don't want drinking around her and if he's gonna drink I can't be with him?

I'm mean drinking is not a deal breaker in a relationship unless its uncontrollable. If it's at like a party or y'all out then y can't he drink? I understand him not drinking around y'all baby but I mean lets be reasonable just because u don't drink y can't he?

I mean him not drinking around the baby is understandable. but if he has a drinking problem i would leave that. but if not then just set some boundaries don't leave him over drinking if he's got it under control and respects not drinking around the baby.

he loses control when he drinks. it's bad. like I get scared of him when he drinks. sober he's great but drinking he's either happy or mean and you won't know which until too late. so I beg him not to. hell say two beers and it'll turn into the entire case and liquor and he gets mad when I tell him he's had too much its time to stop. when he only had one or two he's fine but he never stops there its always a bunch except once and the last time we were together and he drank my sister was drunk and her bf and it got bad. like really bad. my sister won't even talk to me now because of that night and I was sober we weren't fighting but she thinks I'm lying about what she did and what they did

If it's your deal breaker then stick to it. I understand where you are coming from. I personally feel that you don't need a drink to have fun or unwind or anything like that. But I'm also not against the occasional birthday drink...... I too have stopped drinking even socially when I had my kids because I thought it would be unflattering for them to even smell it on my breath or clothes or anything. I don't even take my kids to social events at my brothers house because I know they will be smoking and drinking. So if this is something that you feel strongly about just stick to it. And whoever has a problem with it oh well.

I'm not really a drinker (2-3x per year and never more than a couple drinks). I think that's a little harsh and rigid. Sure, I don't want my child to have a father that drinks around them all the time (and my spouse had an alcoholic father and rarely drinks because of his dad) but a drink here and there for New Years, a job promotion, a nice dinner out, a birthday celebration... No big deal if it's in moderation. Just my opinion. :-)

it wasn't a deal breaker until I watched him go from this amazing bf loving caring to mean and hateful and scary. that's why I'm like no I can't.

@leighannmommy, Ok, losing control... now that's absolutely not ok. He has to know when to stop and what is too much or baby can't be around him as Irma not safe. Again- my $.02
