we had a first trial day with our nanny: she has studied to become a daycare teacher and has experience so I felt ok and left her alone for 1 hour.
but when I came back I found my baby sleeping on her stomach on a blanket in the bed! two choke hazards in one.. kinda makes me doubt.
what do you ladies think?

oh whats funny is the when my cousin was teaching me.. she always told me to lay the baby on the receiving blanket because their skin is sensitive for a while.. just tell her your concerns.. some people are taught differently and a professional would understand your concerns.. especially if she has nannied before andher previous moms told her a certain way they like..

@lilfree16, my baby just turned 6 weeks and cannot roll over yet. also of course you can use covers, but in the right way. she however but the blanket under the baby: so not to cover her.

so what are the point of blankets if you cant use them? the baby is supposed to freeze or be cold because they my might suffocate? who says the baby didnt roll onto her stomach or that ahe was constantly checking on the baby.. she's supposed to sit by the crib ?

I would be mad. Everyone that knows me knows that my son normally rolls over onto his stomach but NEVER is left with a blanket in his crib. He has nothing in his crib at all. I wouldn't hire her again. I wouldn't trust someone that doesn't know the basics of child care.

Your child is always at risk with a stranger. You never know what state of mind a person is in. They can flip out one day and take it out on the love of your life. They can throw the baby in the crib all day and let your little one cry for hours until it's time for you to get home. A nannies job is so serious and SIDS is real and can sometimes be prevented. One mistake can cost you your baby and the nanny her life.

I used to nanny and those babies were my life! I was more paranoid than the parents. I loved them like they were my own and you have to be soooo careful. Many nannies just do this for a check but my God do they have to realize how important their job is, especially for a baby as small as yours. Please please get a nanny cam.

my baby was in the bedroom in her crib, and the nanny on the sofa in the living room.

yes but I used to work in a daycare too and have a lot of experience, of course it feels different when it's your own child. but to not put a young baby on her stomach or on a blanket is basic knowledge? or am I exaggerating?

Was the babysitter by her watching her? If so I wouldn't worry too much. You can always mention that you'd prefer baby to be placed on her back for naps too.
