So my bf and I got into a fight last night. When I first found out I was pregnant he wasn't too happy. We have been together for a year and a half. He says I'm not good with kids and that he doesn't like them. I told him its different if its your kid and that he would be fine. Well now we have a 2month old daughter. He doesn't seem to want anything to do with her. He won't hold her unless she's crying non stop or I force him. He throws a fit about it. I called him out on it last night and he got super angry. He said I told you I'm not into babies. I felt like he rejected our daughter. I felt my heart crumble. He complains that she cries every time he holds her. Well surprise, babies cry. He won't give her a chance. He hands her off every time she cries! If I'm in the shower he paces in front of the door until I come out. I don't know what to do..will it get better? Is it a guy thing? I want them to bond but he doesn't have the patience

When my daughter was first born my husband was terrified of holding her , changing her or being left alone in a room with her when I had to go pump. Now she's almost a year and he still gets nervous and anxious but he is doing better. Some guys it's a HUGE CHNAGE and I learned that they don't always know what to do so as much as it sucks for us and the baby a lot of patience on the mothers part needs to be there, I hope he bonds with her soon it's a very important bond between father and daughter. Good luck!

Doesn't sound like a good mix at all. I would have a HUGE problem with leaving them alone. Kids are not for everyone.

He could be just scared and not know what to do . You guys should talk and see where the disconnect is .

If he is acting like that, it might not change. Men can be afraid at first, but some guys can't except the change. good luck

My husband at first was so terrified to be left alone with our baby! He couldn't figure out how to help him when he was crying and sometimes he was just better once I took him, he just needed mom. I think they get discouraged because they aren't as familiar. Paternal instincts take longer to kick in I think. Now my son is 5 months old and not as fragile and my husband does great. Talk to him about it!

I don't mean to be blunt but it doesn't sound like he's scared it seems like he just plain and simple doesn't like or want kids. he has to man up you both made that baby and he still needs to be responsible for her even if u leave him , but if it was me I wouldn't take anyone treating my baby that way especially not the father that's just wrong.

I don't want to leave him. I want this to work. what should I do? anything I could say to him to give him a boost of confidence? I've tried to be as patient as possible.. I really hope he is just scared...

My husband was super nervous about being alone with our son when he was first born. I would ask my mom to watch the baby so I could shower. It was SUPER irritating!! Our son is now almost 1 and it has gotten so much better. He also never had much experience with babies or children...
I hope things get better sweetie.

when my son was born my husband was the same way he didn't know how to bond with him at such a young age it's different for men the newborn age I guess is kind of like the mom time but once he gets older I guarantee you things will change my son is 9 months old and my husband is obsessed with him because he can finally get on the floor and play with him and he's walking and he's crawling, and you don't need to leave in just give it some time

ok im about to lay some real world truth on you: my husband ran off when I was pregnant after a hospital told us we would miscarry as my daughter was a blighted ovum. we had lost our first at 14 weeks. he came back once he found out at 20 weeks that I was still pregnant and she was as girl. he was scared at first but he got over that in two weeks with PTSD. with our now 7th pregnancy, he said we should adopt it out due to financial concerns. I said no and if he didn't want to be part of his family there was the door. he wanted his family. I told him I was worried he would hate the baby. he said of coarse I won't. its my child. I just didn't want another this soon. I'm worried. we talked and now he's excited too. as much as a man can get. sometimes babies come at unexpected times. but if he's stated he never wanted kids then he doesn't. its not fair to your child to make her be around someone who will never want her. you shouldn't want to be with someone who doesn't want his own flesh and blood. an innocent child that didn't ask to be brought into this world. after a talk if he tells you he doesn't want a thing to do with the baby then do what's right and leave.

Everyone has different views and opinions on your issue. You just have to do what you think is best. Honestly I would give him time to come around. Men don't get the parenting concept as much or quick as women do. Talk to him about going to patenting class. The baby cries with him because the baby senses that he is nervous or scared. He has to be confident and calm. Your child is still young and your guys are new to the whole parenting thing. It isn't easy. Good luck:)

I don't think he hates of doesn't like her...he gets angry and frustrated easily. I'm hoping he comes around. He's a great guy. We've had some shit luck this year with money, vehicles, and a place to live. I'm hoping it's just stress. We've also been at each other's throats time to time...
