Anyone on here tested positive for group B Strep? What did the doctor tell you, and is it something to really worry about?/;
I tested postive. they're trying to find an antibiotic for me because they mostly use amoxicillin, which im allergic to. they told me to come in when my contractions were 12 minutes apart so they could start me on the antibiotics. My nurse told me as long as I get my antibiotics, everything will be fine.
I tested positive with both my girls! They give you antibiotics and baby is fine! without the antibiotics they will keep baby for 72 hours to watch. It could make them blind but if you test positive just make sure the Sox knows when you are in labor! I think you have to have 2 doses before the baby is delivered!
I had my 36 weeks appointment today and they told me I had it and that it would be treated with antibiotics but I don't want the drugs to harm the baby, but if the baby gets it it'll be an even worse outcome, with infections and can be worse than that/; so I just didn't know if it's better to have the baby vaginally or just ask for a c section but I know with both I'll have to have antibiotics but not as strong as the ones they give you if you're going natural, and group b strep is a bacteria that most women have in the vagina, not sexually transmitted or anything it just lives there sometimes permanently and others it comes and goes @yahuahsdaughter @shiloh2123
I'm going on 37 weeks with my first and I just was tested last week for group strep B. They don't tell you if you have it over the phone well at least my practice doesn't because they can't treat you for it until your in labor is what I was told. I go in this week and I will find out if I have it or not. I am worried also about it because of its not treated it can give your baby an infection at birth. From what my doctor told me though is strep B is great common in women and can easily be treated at birth with antibiotics and won't harm baby!
Mine came back positive, and he said that I'll be given antibiotics, but there have been cases where the antibiotics aren't good for the baby, or they just end up getting it anyways, even if you have a c section and it scares me /;
Dang see that's another thing I'm worried about is if my water breaks, or I don't come in within enough time to have enough antibiotics, but I'll keep you guys in my prayers and please keep us in yours, thank you for all the info it definitely did make me feel a little better❤
