@mamadrama, does (s)he scream in pain or show signs of being in pain if you touch slightly around it? That's what the one nurse said would be an indicator that they'd need to be brought in for.

My LOs looked similar. Hers fell off 5 days after being born and I freaked out and took her to the ER thinking it came off too early. They said it was fine and that the air and no water on it during baths would help it close fully. She's now 4 months and has a normal belly button. If you're worried, though, then take them in to be safe.

I'd call the ped my daughters never looked like that

clean it with peroxide and if it looks the same after a couple of days call the dr
