why can't babies sleep on their bellies? I tried to Google it and couldn't find an answer. I accidentally rolled my baby on his belly. so, leads to my next question is SID is gradual throughout a period of time? like is he fine if I watch him?
Do y'all see any difference in my belly in the right picture I can feel that baby girl has dropped some but I don't think it shows in my belly

Because if they throw up and it goes back in its more likely to go to their lungs instead of back into their tummy

as long as you're watching him, I'd say he's fine. if you're going to go back to sleep or leave the room though, you'll need to flip him back over.

all 3 of my babies slept on their stomach during nap time and then bed time once they could roll over. it's your personal preference as a parent.

@momma_beffers, at the end of the day it's up to you if you feel that's what's best for your baby then do it. They used to always lay them on their bellies but they changed it recently. That's what my doctor told me.

my boys chocked in the hospital and had to be suctioned from sleeping on their backs. so from then on they slept on their sides and tummies. they're now 5 months and almost crawling. I do not understand why they say backs only, it does not go back in their bellies. that's how most drunks die, they pass out on their back vomit and die. So your baby is fine. if they spit up while on their belly it comes right out of their mouth onto whatever they are laying on, it does not go back into their bodies, that would be defying gravity, talk about magical milk! but again after having to be suctioned at 1 day old from sleeping on their backs that was it, my boys have been belly sleepers and won't sleep any other way, they don't like to be on their backs when they sleep. my boys also never got flat spots from always sleeping on their backs. but that's just my experience and opinion

babies usually automatically turn their head to one side while laying on their backs. that's why their technically supposed to be on their back. that being said, knowing that didn't ever make me feel any better about it lol whenever I first brought my daughter home, I would always put her on her side (which is what she likes) or just tilt her a little, by putting a folded up receiving blanket under one side. or I would just stay awake to watch her sleep, because I was afraid lol now that the anxiety is gone, she sleeps swaddled, on her back with her head turned.
until not all that long ago though, you were told to put babies on their bellies to sleep. & for YEARS, babies lived sleeping on their bellies.
