I'm 4 days pp and trying to breastfeed. I don't feel like the baby is getting enough from me, I pumped for about 25 minutes, double electric medela pump, and this is what I got. Is this normal and does this look like colostrum or actual milk?
@aek91, I have been feeding every two hours , he eats for about 45 minutes, seems satisfied for about a hour then he acts like he is starving again so I wasn't sure. also we haven't had a #2 diaper since 3 am and it was just making me concerned. I do have an appointment with my lc tomorrow.
^ that too! Your baby gets more out than they pump it's better to just keep the baby at the breast for feeding a it stimulates your body to make more but if you supplement then you're basically telling your body to slow down because when you supplement the baby sleeps longer & you go longer between feedings & then you dry out right now the baby is probably going through a growth spurt so she'll seem like she's not getting enough because they cry every 15 - 20 minutes to be fed but your baby is telling your body to make more when it's doing this so just be patient..
what u get from the pump is different than what you actually have it doesn't take it all out
Your baby is only 4 days old it doesn't need much more. Are you thinking you aren't making enough because they feed a lot?
It's normal they say for breastfed babies not to poop as often because they often use up all the nutrients in the milk & have nothing to poo... I would just keep doing what you're doing my son was the same way but I'd say worse because he woke up every hour on the hour to nurse for 30 minutes then start over again. when they go through growth spurts it's even worse they wake up every 15-20 minutes & cry like they've never eaten in their life just hang in there it gets easier
