so I'm having issues with my daughters sleeping. I may have messed up a little with colic sleeping. she is almost 5 months old and has slept with my fiance and I pretty much from the beginning. but now she can sleep through the night and I want to try and get her to start sleeping in her own bed. I'm not against the CIO method but I was wondering if anyone had any advice other than letting her CIO that might help. I usually get her to sleep and then put her in her bed and she will stay asleep for a while but wake up and cry but still be tired.

you might want to read affects of the cry it out method...I know its an old way of doing things but apparently studies have shown that its better to go to a baby in need helps them form better independence then ignoring their cries which make them more needy, ever seen a kid who didn't get much attention, they're pretty needy..

@supermom1104, is so right! My sister used the cry it out method on my nephew and he wasn't a very good baby. now she kinda does it even at 8 years old. if he's whiny or upset about anything she just let's him "work it out". I hate it. not to mention now he's starved for attention and acts out constantly. he smiles when he gets in trouble because it gives him attention. for me? he's so good. cause I play with him and interact. my baby is such a good baby. he cries, I run to him pretty fast. so when I sit him down to do stuff, its like he knows it's OK cause if he needs mommy all he has to do is call.
I put rice cereal in my baby's bottle, 1tsp per Oz of formula. feed him and burp him real good. put him in his swing and play with him for about 45 mins, but usually he fusses when he gets ready for bed. then I swaddle him (he's actually starting to not like that though). then I hold him and rock him until he falls asleep and gets good and asleep. when I lay him down I hold my hand on him until he's still. then he's usually good. he sleeps for between 6 to 9 hours at 2 months. if he cries at all I go give him his pacci then he goes back to sleep.

my son is fixing to be 4 and we just got him sleeping through the night (seriously!!) he had horrible night terrors. you don't have to ignore your baby, go in leave the light off and have a soft voice and just show them your there. let them know when they cry you will be there but don't pick them up just stnd there till they fall back asleep then quietly leave the room it will take a bit but it will work. eventually they will learn it's ok because they know if they need you you will come :) best of luck!! @maxx

Oh wow okay. CIO was definitely low on the list of things to try but now it's even lower. @mommyhughes4 that sounds like something good to try. @lyndsie94 I have tried leaving my hand on her one time when she woke up a little when I put her down and it worked to get her back to sleep but she still woke up.
