Our rule from our birthing classes was 5-1-1. 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour. But we were also about 45 min away from our hospital!

the rule is 411 4 minutes apart lasting 1 min for a hour. thats how it was for my first. i followed it and was at a 4 when i got to the hospital

there's a "rule" for them, but I can't remember for the life of me what it is or how it goes. I couldn't time mine, because they weren't really regular. But they lasted for over an hour so I went in. I believe it's an hour though.
