37 weeks tomorrow! What exactly is a membrane sweep and has anyone ever had one? Also when did you ask for one and did it help?
I had it done 4 times 37,38,39,40... But I had very high blood pressure, was put on bedrest and we were trying everything to not have to be induced. That specIfically never worked for me. It was actually a bit uncomfortable, but nothing unbearable!
i had one done with my first and it hurt so bad. i went i to labor 3 days l
later..
i had it done an it didn't help me but after it was done i was in a uncomfortable pain for a few days. my friend had it done as well an she went into labor at 39 weeks an 2 days. so i think it's different from person to person.
I never really knew about it with my first, but I asked about it this time around and my doctor said they only do them around 39 weeks. Some doctors do them around 37 weeks though, you'll just have to ask. You basically get it to help start labor, but you only have like a 50% chance to go into labor when it's done I think thats what my doctor said. I've seen some women get multiple membrane sweeps and still not go into labor. 😧
I've never had one but your dr will pretty much sweep around the opening of your cervix to help labor start.
Thank you guys! @babylove15 @beckajudd13 @bphipps29 @jemmoool @their.bomb.ass.mom @tortor4894
