Why Couldn't the Ultrasound Tech Reassure Me About My Baby?
Went to the ER for stomach pains and I got an ultrasound, when she was doing the ultrasound I asked if his heart was beating she tells me she can't tell me this information so I was sitting in the lobby waiting to be called by the Dr for like an hour just freaking out stressing that something was wrong with the baby and finally found out I had a uti. I'm just very upset the ultrasound tech couldn't just tell me everything was fine with a baby and not to mention she was so rude . I'm pissed she put me through an hour of torture.

It all depends on why you're there, sometimes they just can't tell you, the doctor has to. I went in for a possible atopic pregnancy and she told me that she wasn't legally allowed to show me any of the screen or tell me the outcome.
Yeah those ultrasound techs aren't aloud to say anything unfortunately. If anything ever happens again (I hope not), go to labor and delivery instead. They'll take you in there and let you know everything. Plus they're faster than the ER.
They arent suppose to tell you anything but i know most of the time when everything is good they show you the screen heart beat etc but honestly they arent allowed to say they can get into alot of trouble honestly depending on how the doctor is as well. But I completely understand i went thru the same thing multiple times i had 2 miscarriages and a difficult pregnancy with this one but being in the medical field there are alot of rules patients dont know about
when I was prego with my daughter the dr. said wanna hear the heart beat n I was like ya nd then she was looking for it n I could tell nd she said just a moment I'm having trouble finding it nd I got so anxious nd then she said oh found it me n my hunnys hearts dropped wen she had said i'm having trouble finding but glad she found it tho happend twice they were batting a thousand at my appointments lol
girl.. I just was in the er for the same thing like 4 days ago.. I would have cussed the ultra sound tech out like uhh tramp I'm the mother you better tell me something!
That is is weird I know my nurse in room hooked me up to hear heartbeat and when they did ultrasound, 2 of them that lasted almost 2 hours she told me how the baby looked great and healthy and wouldn't stay still. I'm sorry that must of been scary and frustrating!
I know what you mean. I don't think legally they are supposed to tell you. I had a miscarriage late 2014, and the ultrasound tech didn't say a word. I found out from the Dr hours later and was devastated. at 16 weeks with this pregnancy, I went in for bleeding and after the ultrasound tech found the heart rate and saw baby moving, she allowed me to see the screen and watch him move. The Dr told me later that he was positive I was having a miscarriage because my cervix was open and I had lost a lot of blood. I was bitter that she gave me what I thought was false hope. I would have rather not seen him and known he was doing ok if my body was going to destroy him anyways. everything turned out for the best, though. 30 weeks down and 10 to go. I guess it's damned if they do, damned if they dont, lol.
wow.!! usually they're more than happy to tell you that everything is fine and baby is doing great, wonder what was stuck up her butt...
unfortunately they are not allowed to tell you what the problem is. I had something similar happen to me when I had an ultrasound during my 25 week. my cervix was shortening. he wouldn't tell me anything! all he said was to go to labor and delivery and the Dr would tell me what was wrong. I went to L/D and started crying! well long story short I ended up staying at the hospital for a week, given meds for cervical shortening and now I'm 35 weeks almost full term.
