I'd say do it, having your baby outside is going to help your child build an immune system and not to mention fresh air will help with sleep! you don't need to stay home for the first month. you'll go stir crazy, bring a sling and a hat and some sunscreen. newborns are usually suppose to be in the sun 20 mins and out for 20 mins to help with not getting a sunburn. my son swan at 6 weeks and was at the ocean at 5 months old. @mama_mara
@mama_mara, I wouldn't recommend it either cause of the sun and I think the baby would be too small to use any bug repellants on their skin. But you should definitely get with your doctor and get their opinion . From my experience I took my kids to the beach and had my son covered in sun block every 2/3 hours and under an umbrella or in the tent and my son still got 3rd degree sunburn on his cheek
@nicholefrank, that makes me feel better lol my daughter was born in the winter si when summer came she was almost 6month had lost most of my worries. and I'm not worried about germs lol when my youngest was born I was a big advocate for building her immune system. not that I had a choice lol she has 13 older cousins that loved to kiss on her
I understand not wanting your oldest to have to sacrifice but I promise one year without camping won't hurt her.
I brought my 6 week old to swim classes and the lake, if not use to water they lose their natural swim abilities. thankfully I started him young, he's such a water bug! @mama_mara and being outside also helps build an immune system.
@brooklyn0516, that's hilarious! Omg I'll have to remember that. somthing like that would totally be my luck!!
@jjones if I keep baby in a sling I can regulate his body temp iv been reading on that. but this is my second child and I don't want my oldest to sacrifice her summer because of a new baby. she would be resentful. but o hadn't thought of bugs so I'll look in to somthing other than spray.
Funny story! When I was still in EMT school we got a call out to a local campsite. A woman was four days past her due date and she and her husband decided it was a good night to go camping. By the time we got there, she was crowning lol and that was the first and only baby I've ever had to deliver. Moral of the story, if you're overdue and have a c section scheduled... Don't go camping lol or the wilderness is gonna see you bare it all 😂
I don't think it would be best to bring your newborn camping or to the lake. they are still learning to regulate their body temperature and building their immune system and then you also have to worry about sunburnt and mosquitos and honestly the first month is nice to spend at home with baby while you recover and build a bond.
I took my son camping when he was 3 days old. He was perfectly fine and it was right next to a lake. I used sunscreen and the bug repellent candles @mama_mara
