question for all military spouses! have you ever lived on post?! debating in moving on post..Yay or nay?
The only down side was post traffic (school and soldiers trying to get too and from work) and breed restrictions for dogs.
I am an ex military spouse (5yrs) but my ex husband and I liked living on post sooo much better. Granted we got one of the newer bigger houses that we could have never afforded off of bah both times (and it was only with two dependents, me and my son.) We lived off post twice and on post twice. I loved being apart of the community, having closer access to the px, neighborhood centers and all of the events. Not having to worry about any of the bills unless our electric exceeded the est cap. It was nice :)
@nebanks1226, not at all.... My neighbors aren't loud at all.... I don't even know there home unless my son is looking out the window and sees their dogs.
my rent and utilities takes all my bah so it won't make a difference @mrs.watson901
that's not bad at all! I'm gonna look into it!@diamondleann
No no no. Don't do it ! Unless you are overseas. It's such a hassle plus they take your bah and we get more than enough for rent.
No to post. you have no personal business living on post. and they take all your bah
I got here almost mid October and I was moved in by the end of the month @nebanks1226
I would live on Carson as well. save money in gas and we use our entire bah on rent so if we're not paying rent it's like making no difference on our pay because we use all 1300 on rent haha! how long did you wait for a home? @diamondleann
I live on Carson @nebanks1226. I do save quite a bit of money.
I've heard great things and I've heard crappie things but I feel like I'd save a lot of money. a lot of places in Colorado Springs are small expensive and not in the nicest areas! @maybabyboy
I would need a 2 bedroom and I just applied to a lot of jobs on post so it'll be so much easier. are you living on Peterson or Carson?
@nebanks1226, I live here in the springs and I'm active duty..... I like the housing here but it also depends on how many bedrooms you'll need. I like not having to worry about paying the utilities because it's included. I currently have a 3 bedroom because there weren't any 2 bedrooms available when I moved in.
my brother is in the air force, and they live on base in Tucson, and they really enjoy it. I think they got like a 4 bedroom house, and they actually still get extra money every month for housing, as long as they keep their electric bill low. my sister in law also works on the base tho, so it's just much more convenient for them and their 2 kids.
yes but I didn't like it..it took all of out BAH it wasn't worth it to me...we found a place like 3 mins away
