VENTING: so I know I'm probably being super hormonal and sensitive but I had my baby shower over the weekend which was great and a lot of fun however I invited several co-workers and only two showed up, some rsvp'd some didn't even bother to acknowledge my invitation. My boss told me she may not be able to make it but wanted to know where I was registered because she was definitely bringing something for the baby to work. Another coworker said she took a nap and overslept but would bring my gifts in to work as well. Well today is my first day back to work since my shower (system issues) and I'm just annoyed with my co-workers lol. I just hate excuses and if you aren't going to make it don't rsvp and if you didn't get the baby something don't say you did lol. Thoughts? Am I just being hormonal ladies?!

that's why I've been contemplation having one. people should just be up front and say they can't make it.

No. I mean it's hurtful. This is something that is big in your life right now and when other people brush it off and lie to get out of it can be hurtful!! And getting baby presents is the best thing ever so not to mention they got your hopes up! But it'll blow over and you'll forget about it. It's one of those things just to make a mental note not to do that to someone else.

@tlokitabella91, that's my biggest thing just be up front! And the ones who rsvp'd and didn't even show up didn't apologize or provide any explanation and to me that's just plain rude!

yeah that would piss me off @gb2289 I may just have a family get together because u can't count on people for shit honestly

@allisongarrett, honestly that's exactly how I feel! This is something very special to me and I invited you guys to share this time with me and you couldn't even at least acknowledge it and say I'm sorry I can't make it? the lying bothers me the most, if you aren't going to do something and you know that just be honest or don't make false promises! Seriously it has just makes it so I'm coming to work, doing my job and not really associating right now because I'm so irritated! And you're right I'm def take a mental note!

@numommy2016, yeah you're completely right! I have def made note of who cares and who doesn't! My boss however, like that's really frustrating, like I come to work every day 37 weeks pregnant, feet swollen, exhausted and that's what I get in return smh!

@tlokitabella91, yeah I should have just left it family only because ppl are incredibly unreliable!

Just keep perspective- this is your first day back and you could very well receive a gift next week or even once the baby is born. I wouldn't get mad at those saying they wanted to bring a gift just yet. The RSVP people that haven't mentioned anything... I'd probably say we were really worried about you when you didn't show and waited for your arrival (or had food set aside for you... Etc etc..) "is everything ok?"

@rgaine, I'm def trying to keep perspective and just react off raw emotion ya know. But I do feel like these are people I have to work with every day they have seen me go through all 9 months of my pregnancy. To just kind of brush it off seems so rude to me.

@rgaine, and idk what I feel is worse like not even acknowledging the invite or just treating it like a minuscule thing idk.

@Gb2289, Yeah, it's totally rude to brush it off. Just know some people weren't raised as well as you and that you'll raise your child better. As an event planner I see this sort of stuff all the time so I already see it coming since it's so common but yes, very hurtful to say the least. I'm just glad you were able to have a shower. I don't think I'll have one with family all over the world and working from home with my own company and very few coworkers. As the other mommy mentioned, now you know who is in your circle and who is out of it.
